Background
Bletchley Park, famous for its pivotal role in World War II codebreaking, has become a premier visitor attraction.
Welcoming over 250,000 visitors annually, it showcases unique exhibitions, including the groundbreaking work of Alan Turing. To enhance their Counter Terrorism and Critical Incidents preparedness, Bletchley Park enlisted United Outcomes.
Using their newly launched Intelligence-Led Response Model, United Outcomes aimed to enhance emergency planning and response as well as bolster the protection of staff and visitors from potential risks and incidents.
The Task
Outputs, Outcomes, and Impact
United Outcomes was engaged by Bletchley Park’s executive team to deliver comprehensive training for their executive and senior management teams.
The primary goals were to:
- Enhance skills in risk assessment and decision-making to prevent terrorism
and other serious violence - Equip the team to handle critical and major incidents on-site
Additionally, United Outcomes was tasked with implementing a “train the trainers” program to empower Bletchley Park’s learning and development team. This program aimed to enable them to independently deliver critical and major incident prevention and response training to the entire workforce.
United Outcomes provided training to 16 executive and senior managers at Bletchley Park through a series of knowledge sessions and tabletop exercises.
The training covered:
- Risk assessment, gap analysis, and incident prevention
- Incident response protocols
- Command roles of Gold, Silver, and Bronze
- Crisis communication strategies
- Counter-terrorism preparedness
This training has significantly enhanced Bletchley Park’s management team’s ability to prevent and respond to serious incidents, thereby ensuring the safety and security of both visitors and staff.
